The broad objectives of my research are to use detailed observations of nearby galaxies to quantify their star formation and evolutionary properties, and to understand the underlying physical nature of the Hubble sequence of galaxy types. I have worked on several large surveys of star formation in the local universe, including the Spitzer Infrared Nearby Galaxies Survey (SINGS) and will use Herschel to reveal the submillimetre side of galaxies.
